Wedding of Heidi and Cameron

Another beautiful wedding. The color scheme was red and black; simple, yet elegant. Heidi let the

bridesmaids choose their own dresses with only one criteria – that it be black. Flowers were a mixture of red carnations and roses.

Heidi was a first-time bride at the age of 49 while Cameron was a widower who lost his first wife to cancer four years earlier. He has two children – a daughter in college and a son in high school. The wedding was a very family-oriented event. Besides Cameron’s two children in the wedding party, Heidi had her three sisters as bridesmaids and Cameron had his three brothers as groomsmen.

After the ceremony, instead of the traditional recessional, the bride and groom went to each of their family members in the wedding party, thanked and hugged them. Then, Heidi and Cam released the guests as a way to greet each guest, foregoing the traditional receiving line. This way, they get to see everyone without worrying about trying to see them at the reception.

The reception was short and sweet. A buffet was offered with selections of beef, ham and chicken along with an array of side dishes. They had their first dance, toast and cake cutting.

Upon departure, instead of having bubbles blown or rose petals tossed, we had all the guests line up and wave goodbye as Heidi and Cam left to enjoy their honeymoon on Vancouver Island. This is what they said about their honeymoon. “Vancouver Island exceeded our expectations, the beaches with mountains together were spectacular. We very much enjoyed our time.”
